Details: The B-6B Cutler Hammer switch has no center position, with one extreme momentarily on, and the other extreme off. From the original documentation we maintain in our AirCorps Library we know that B-6B was the Cutler Hammer part number for an AN3016 switch. AN3016 was then superseded by the AN3022 standard. This configuration of switch is commonly used for installations like Oil Dilute Valves and many other functions throughout the electrical system. The B-6B switch is an alternate part number for AN3022-8B. The only difference between the B-6B (AN3022-8B) compared to the B-6 (AN3022-8) is the B suffix which indicates a luminescent tip. Knowing your aircraft is imperative to proper maintenance and operations.
Background: Cutler Hammer, of Milwaukee, WI produced a number of different switches and electrical components during WWII. These Cutler Hammer products were produced using both the Army Navy AN part numbering system as well as their own manufacturer part numbers.
