0-3903NN-111 is a shoulder harness inertia locking reel in the 0-3903NN series. The reel lets the occupant pay out harness webbing freely and lean forward in normal flight, then locks the harness automatically under sudden deceleration or an abrupt g input so the shoulders are held back against the seat.
How the dash number works: the basic 0-3903NN reel is a left-hand reel as standard. Dash variations cover right-hand versus left-hand build, harness length, control cable length, usable drum diameter, and whether the reel is supplied with or without the control assembly. Table I of NAVWEPS 03-1-91 is the authority for what any individual dash number carries, including this -111. Confirm the dash number against Table I before committing it to a specific seat installation, because a reel of the wrong hand or the wrong control cable length will not route correctly to the release handle.
