The "N" in 22NA17-82 denotes a nylon insert, added by ESNA to replace the earlier fiber-insert 22A17-82, which is prone to cracking with age. AirCorps recommends nylon insert fasteners wherever possible. The 22NA17-82 is a one lug plate nut with two rivet holes, sometimes called a single ear anchor nut. It is the MS21080 / NAS1025 pattern and is the standard choice where the mounting surface is too narrow for a two lug plate nut but still needs two rivets for anti-rotation.
