The "N" in 22NA21-22-02 denotes a nylon insert, added by ESNA to replace the earlier fiber-insert 22A21-22-02, which is prone to cracking with age. AirCorps recommends nylon insert fasteners wherever possible. The 22NA21-22-02 is a two lug floating anchor nut, commonly called a basket nut. The nut element is captured in a riveted basket and can shift a few thousandths in every direction, so it swallows hole-to-hole misalignment between a panel and its structure.
