3494916-1 is the Douglas hydraulic Valve Assembly, Wing Flap Two-Speed Control. It is the valve in the wing flap hydraulic circuit that produces two different flap actuation rates by routing flow through fixed orifices, rather than driving the flaps at a single fixed speed.
Important configuration note: 3494916-1 is the later, reworked configuration of Douglas P/N 3372888. The overhaul manual instructs shops to rework and reidentify 3372888 to 3494916-1 configuration by replacing the orifices with the later orifice part numbers and installing a new body. The two numbers are therefore the same valve at different configuration levels, and the 3494916-1 is the current standard. Do not treat 3372888 as a drop-in equal without confirming it has been reworked.
