Each S-116 fairlead consists of 2 halves.
This fairlead guides the 3/8 in. engine control rods where they pass through the fairlead support brackets between the cockpit and the firewall. It keeps the rods centered and stops them from chafing or rattling against the structure. The front and rear engine control rod fairlead supports (75-2913 and 75-2914) each take two. It's also used at the carburetor cold air control bracket and on the brake control bellcrank tube.
