GF6-1/2-312 is a Dzus Type GF full grommet with a 1/2" width and a .312" length, in aluminum. It is installed in the removable panel to protect the panel hole, protect the panel finish, and provide a precision seat that reduces stud play. Type GF grommets are used with flush head studs, Types F, FA, FJ, and FW. Type GA grommets are the equivalent for protruding oval head Types A and AJ.
ABOUT: Dzus fasteners are quarter-turn, self-locking panel fasteners made of heat-treated, cadmium plated nickel steel, used with an aluminum grommet and a music wire spring. The stud passes through the removable panel, the grommet locates and protects the panel hole, and the spring is riveted to the underlying structure where it takes the load and provides the locking action. They are used on covers, plates, cowlings, and similar panels that require quick removal and replacement. Worn, bent, or broken parts must be replaced to maintain clamp load and vibration resistance.

DETAILS: A full grommet requires a tool to install and is the choice when protection of the panel hole is a definite consideration. Where hole protection is not required, a Type GH aluminum half grommet or Type GP push-on half grommet can be used instead. Grommet length is selected from the outer panel thickness, so measure the panel before ordering.
