A two lug floating nut plate rivets to the back of a panel or structure through its two lugs. The nut element floats inside its cage, so the bolt or screw can still start when holes are slightly misaligned. That makes it the standard choice for removable access panels and fairings. The all-metal self-locking thread holds the fastener without a separate lock nut.
