The nylon locking insert replaced ESNA's earlier fiber insert, which is prone to cracking with age. AirCorps recommends nylon insert fasteners wherever possible. The NA1K3 10-32 is a two lug capped anchor nut with a high metal cap and a red nylon locking insert. The cap fully shrouds the exposed screw end, which is what you want where a protruding bolt end would snag, chafe, or let fluid and vapor into the threads.
