The nylon locking insert replaced ESNA's earlier fiber insert, which is prone to cracking with age. AirCorps recommends nylon insert fasteners wherever possible. The NA1K3 1/4-28 is a two lug capped anchor nut with a high metal cap and a red nylon locking insert. The cap fully shrouds the exposed screw end and, properly seated, seals the joint against fluid and vapor migration.
